| 2006-06-12 17:58 - The Phoenix Will Live Again! | | Posted by karlson | more from same (Collection news) | | | As many of you have noticed the website was mostly down for quite a long time now. The reasons are simple
- We had no time
- We lost our main hosting server
I now belive it all going to change soon (for now only Hobbit and Lotr by Inglis + Silmarillion by Shaw downloads should work (in firefox and other proper browsers, IE is not supported for now)).
If you have any ideas on hosting - please let me know.
My thanks also go to Geoffrey Hastings, who contributed a new logo (and gave me a push to remeber about this website). |

| 2004-03-06 07:35 - Farmer Giles and Other Stories, narrated by Derek Jacobi | | Posted by karlson | more from same (Collection news) | | | Farmer Giles of Ham, Smith of Wottom Major and Leaf by Niggle short stories audiobooks, narrated by Derek Jacobi were added to the collection. This stories are not about Midlle-Earth, but they are magical and great works of Tolkien's art all the same. Our great friend, anonymous contributor, did a good job on converting the tapes to mp3.
P.S. Another thing - from 9th of March till 26th of March the karlson.no-ip.com server will be shut down, sorry about that. |

| 2003-03-24 20:31 - Large Media - all is up! | | Posted by karlson | more from same (Collection news) | | | Finally with the recent addition of Harry Potter games and the FOTR DVD screener RIP all of the Large Media Section is now online, mostly on my homeserver.
However, due to the limited bandwidth and resources I have at home the server has the following limitations:
1. Not more then 5 users at a time.
2. Not more then one connection from one ip.
If the server is down for sometime or overloaded - don't worry, you can always use resuming (support on many download managers) to resume your downloads later. |

| 2003-03-22 03:42 - More online items on my home-server | | Posted by karlson | more from same (Collection news) | | | Well, now three new items are online, that were never online on this server before - three Harry Potter documentaries:
Discovering the Real World of Harry Potter and The Amazing world of Harry Potter ripped by me and Capturing the Stone provided by Padfoot.
Also Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone movie DVD rip is online again. |

| 2003-03-13 19:05 - Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Games | | Posted by Alatar | more from same (Collection news) | | | There have been two major attempts at producing a roleplaying Game in Tolkien's Middle-earth. The first was Iron Crown Enterprises "Middle-Earth Roleplaying" which also covered a spinoff aimed at younger players called "The Lord of the Rings Adventure Game". MERP was based on an extremely complex system called Rolemaster and was discontinued in the mid 80's.
The more recent version is a spinoff from the Peter Jackson movie and is heavily influenced by the movie, even so far as having images from the movie illustrating the books. In complexity it fits nicely between the more difficult MERP system and the simplistic "Lord of the Rings Adventure Game".
The "Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Adventure Game" by Decipher is an introduction to the full LotR Roleplaying game by Decipher and should not be confused with the similarly titled ICE offering.
"Through the Mines of Moria" is a Fastplay introductory adventure for the "Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Adventure Game". Confused yet?
Anyway, to start you off, "Through the Mines of Moria" is available for download in the Games\Roleplaying Games area. Thanks to LegolasGreenleaf for this one!
I will be following this with a large selection of out of print MERP products over the next few weeks.
Enjoy!

| 2003-02-28 19:48 - Rare and Out of Print Computer Games | | Posted by Alatar | more from same (Collection news) | | | The Games section now contains a selection of Rare and Out-of-Print Dos Games. In all cases these are the MSDOS versions of these games. In many cases the original version was for the ZX Spectrum, the C64 or the Amiga. I am still looking for The Lord of the Rings Volume II and I will post it here when I find a copy. I have not included freeware or shareware games such as Moria or Angband as these are freely available on the web.
Please note that many of these games make direct calls to hardware and will not run under Windows NT, 2000 or XP due to the Hardware Abstraction Layer in these Operating Systems. Also, some of the games do not use a real-time clock and so will run ridiculously fast on a modern PC.
Anyway... Enjoy! |

| 2003-02-27 20:15 - Rare Wargames now available in Games Section | | Posted by Alatar | more from same (Collection news) | | | The Out-of-Print SPI Wargames "War of the Ring", "Gondor" and "Sauron" are hugely sought after collectors items. In the games section you will find everything you need to play these Games including the Original Maps, Rules, Counters, Setup Charts and finally software to enable them to be played by E-mail. This is extremely rare material, and not for the fainthearted! I hope you all enjoy it! |
